The Usher Orlop Mystery Series 9

For three days Usher had to tolerate a snappy, ill-mannered, adolescent runaway, However, when Usher is told that the kid is wanted for two hideous homocides, committed a couple days before their encounter, Usher said, "No way," but he still turned the kid in, because such matters must be put right.

No one would listen to the kid, so he escaped detention and hitchhiked halfway across the country to get Usher to listen to his side of the story. Once the story is heard, Usher has to get involved.  Matters are complicated by the Sheriff and the DA, who are planning on riding the kid's conviction into re-election.
